Why did Amma keep teeth in Sharp Objects? ›

Gillian Flynn's novel offers some further insight into Amma's psyche with Camille's guesses on Amma's motive: As for the teeth, she took the teeth only because she needed them. The dollhouse had to be perfect, just like everything else Amma loved.

It is then revealed that while Adora did kill Marian, Amma murdered Ann Nash and Natalie Keene, in part because she was jealous of the attention Adora was giving the girls. Amma is later arrested for her crimes.

Did Adora know about Amma? This is actually left much more unclear in the book, but there are several moments in the show that indicate Adora did know (or at least suspected) that Amma was the killer.

Keep paying attention to the end credits, for example, and you see the quick montage that confirms what those teeth imply: Adora may have poisoned Marian and nearly murdered Camille and Amma, but it was Amma and her rollergirl friends who viciously killed Ann and Natalie, and then Amma who did the same to poor Mae.

Indeed, the series gradually reveals that Camille may well be suffering from the lingering trauma of her sister's death, caused by Adora's Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a disorder that compels an individual to induce illness in others (typically children) for attention, control, or their own emotional satisfaction.

Adora and Camille have a contentious and hateful relationship, fueled by the pain and trauma both feel in the wake of the death of Marian—Adora's second daughter who died when Camille was still a child.

At the start of the novel, Adora is a nervous, traumatized woman desperate for control—her habit of plucking out her own eyelashes reveals a masoch*stic and self-destructive nature.

The words are plausible as something a teen would write on her hands: “CALL MOM,” “TEXT A,” and “READ BOOK.” Amma also seems to notice them, which suggests that they're not just in Camille's imagination, and Amma would surely put together the resonance between Mae's self-scribing and Camille's scars.

Camille has done something proactive by going to her mother in the first place, and it's about her symbiotic relationship with her mother, that she had to finally succumb to her mother and put all that poison into her body to prove what her mother is.

But at a certain point, the two girls started hanging around her house too much, asking too many questions about Amma's mysterious illness—and worst of all, getting too much attention from Adora. Amma murdered the girls partially because she's been warped by being poisoned by her mother her whole life.

Whose blood was under John's bed? It was Natalie's blood. In one of the final shots, we see Natalie being hurt under the bed on the very spot where Ashley (Madison Davenport) found and cleaned up blood in the carriage house.

Amma is behind the murder of Ann Nash and Natalie Keene, as the two gained Adora's attention (Ann being tutored by Adora and the latter trying to help Natalie). In addition, Amma appeared to be dressed in white in her murders, as she was seen by the neighborhood kid.

Camille (Amy Adams) puts it all together in the final episode when she finds little teeth in the room of Amma's dollhouse meant to represent the ivory floor in their mother Adora's (Patricia Clarkson) bedroom. A mark of the mass murderer was pulling out the victims' teeth.

So the motive is Adora, and so she connects these killings to her mother's room in the dollhouse. Also, her mother's floor is made of ivory, so Amma wants everything to be perfectly exact. Teeth are basically the closest Amma will get to ivory. Tooth at the end was most likely from Amma's friend in St.

Marian died when she was young, leaving Camille devastated and traumatized. It is eventually revealed that Adora herself killed Marian, sickening her through years of poisoning as a result of Munchausen by Proxy syndrome.

Amma killed the last girl, Mae, all on her own. She took the teeth from all her victims as trophies, and used them to make a replica of her mother's ivory floor in her dollhouse.

And while she killed them each in slightly different ways, she used pliers to take out their teeth that she would later polish and bleach for her dollhouse.

Because Camille is biting Richard when she wants to come, Alan is biting himself when Adora denies him and so Adora biting that baby to prove she has “another sick” one fits that motif.

Personality. Even though she is not as obviously mentally ill as her mother Adora, Amma is still a cruel and sociopathic person who takes delight out of pain on others such as destroying the flowers from the memorial stand as well as making a morbid meme of the victim's brother being accused of murder.
